Chevy makes great trucks, including its flagship Silverado and its popular Colorado models. Each truck has features that can benefit different types of drivers, and which Chevy truck is right for you will depend on your lifestyle and needs.
The Silverado is a great workhorse truck and is perfect for folks working in construction or those who have large boats or trailers to tow. The Colorado is ideal for folks who need the practicality of a small truck for hauling items for home improvement projects or who want a fun truck for off-roading.

- Performance – Although the Silverado has a much more powerful engine than the Colorado (a 420 horsepower engine vs. a 200 horsepower engine), the Silverado is a much heavier truck than the Colorado, so the smaller truck is more athletic than its larger sibling. Reviewers praise the Colorado for offering good acceleration and passing power and nimble handling.
- Off-roading – The Chevy Colorado’s ZR2 offers a variety of specialized equipment that makes it perfect for off-roading, including a redesigned front end and enhanced suspension. There’s no Silverado variant with the same ability.
- Fuel efficiency – The smaller Colorado is the more fuel-efficient vehicle. The Colorado gets 20 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. By comparison, the Silverado gets 18 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.
- Towing – If you have a large trailer or boat to tow or you need a truck that can haul a lot of materials, the Silverado is the right vehicle for you. The Silverado has a maximum towing capacity of 12,500 lbs. and a max payload of 2,250 lbs., making it among the best in its class. The Colorado’s towing capacity isn’t as robust, and the truck is more suited to light-duty work.
- Comfort – When it comes to the interior, both the Colorado and Silverado have comfortable and attractive interiors. Upper trim levels of the Silverado have more luxury features than the Colorado, but those features come at a cost, as the Silverado is significantly more expensive than the Colorado. Not everyone will need all the interior space offered by the Silverado, and the Colorado is a great option for those drivers, as they won’t sacrifice any interior comfort by downsizing to a more practical pick-up for their needs.
- Price – The Colorado starts at about $24,475 and a maxed-out version of the truck will set you back about $41,155. The Silverado’s base level truck starts at $28,805, and a fully outfitted version will cost around $51,000.

Chevrolet Colorado второго поколения появился на рынке в 2013 году. Этот пост, как и прошлый, основан на результатах моих «исследований» при покупке Желтого. Я раньше писал, что «Canyon стабильно дороже аналогичного Colorado на $1K-$2K. За дополнительные получаешь: имидж GMC, экстра-хром спереди, типа-как-Sierra дизайн передка и автоматически подключаемый передний мост, немного плюшек в салоне (красная подсветка вместо бирюзовой, цветной экран в панели приборов, алюминиевая отделка центральной консоли).»
Это и есть основные отличия, но давайте по порядку.
Прежде чем вдаваться в детали различий между Canyon и Colorado, стоит вначале объяснить разницу между GMC и Chevrolet. Причина существования GMC — это желание продавать всю линейку автомобилей как в бюджетном, так и в премиум сегментах. Логика такая, что не айс выставлять пикапы/джипы Chevrolet (бюджетная марка) в дилершипах премиум марок концерна (Buick, Cadillac и иже). Как же Cadillac и его Escalade вписывается в картину и построен на той же платформе что и GMC Yukon? Не знаю, дебри корпоративных решений GM неисповедимы. Может Эскалейд это супер-премиум, а Юкон просто премиум?
В общем, основной посыл маркетологов GM, что пикапы Chevrolet для работяг, а GMC для прорабов. Со временем этот посыл стал размываться, особенно с попытками Silverado High Country с типа-премиум комплектациями. В общем, чтобы легче было запоминать, GMC это типа Chevrolet с понтами. Поэтому еще стоит отметить, что большинство продающихся GMC берутся в максимальных комплектациях Denali. Такую комплектацию как правило можно узнать по тонне хрома, особенно на решетке радиатора. Если стоят рядом два GMC, но на одном хрома много, а на другом просто ослепляюще много, на грани китча — то вот второй это Denali.
Когда то GMC отличились от Chevrolet дизайном решетки и количеством хрома, но в последнее десятилетие GM старается внести какие-то более значимые различия. Итак, не смотря на предыдущие примеры бейдж-инжиниринга, Canyon не такой: перед полностью другого дизайна, повторяющего стилем старшую модель Sierra. В общем и целом, кабина и задний борт такие же как у Colorado, все остальное — свое.
Дизайн экстерьера на вкус и цвет, лично мне не очень нравится практически-идентичность с видом Sierra, но не настолько, что я бы отказался от покупки если б в свое время подвернулся хороший вариант 😉
В плане комплектаций я не особо разбирался. У GMC есть свои «ступеньки» комплектаций (SLE→All Terrain→SLT→Denali), свое название пакета Z71 с чуть другими настройками подвески и более зубастой резиной, но нет аналога ZR2. Canyon предлагает свои диски, не повторяющиеся дизайном с Chevrolet, причем вплоть до 20′ (Colorado максимум идет с 18′).
По двигателям Canyon в точности такой же как и Colorado. Единственное различие — у Canyon проапгрейденный вариант раздатки и есть режим «Auto 4WD», когда перед подключается автоматически по необходимости. Это не полноценный AWD, это все еще подключаемый передний мост, но мост может подключаться самостоятельно. GMC не особо уточняет критерии, когда такая система работает и дает ли она что-то на асфальте или пригодна исключительно на бездорожье.
Интерьер Canyon остался без изменений, за исключением некоторых деталей: GMC использует местами дерево и алюминий там, где у Chevrolet только пластик: консоль рычага коробки, ручки дверей, консоль климата. Подсветка красная вместо бирюзовой, другая графика/иконки в аудио (функционал такой же).
По большому счету это все 🙂 Имидж бренда, стиль, хром, больше выбор дисков, лучшие материалы в салоне, авто-подключение моста.
Upd Всё смешалось в доме Облонских. Судя по coloradofans.com, авто-подключение моста есть на дизельном Колорадо. А у Каньона с какого-то года идет бирюзовая подсветка, но центральный экранчик между тахометром и спидометром чуть больше и цветной 🙂 Мдя, вот такие вот нюансы. Тогда наверное основная разница все-таки в экстерьере и имидже.
