Maybe I’m a bit late to the game here, but anyone else find the lap timer with turbo boost and oil temp gauge? This is on poverty spec dash.

Yes, was surprised the boost gauge wasn’t like it is on s3’s but handy to have all the same.
On a separate note I booted it in a tunnel with the windows down, great noise — clearly not all fake. Nice turbo hiss and exhaust note!

Whats the boost indicator really provide on lap timer if the upgrade is unlocked and available on a c7.

Its like a digital line boost gauge when in manual mode. Lights up as you build boost until you reach max boost and the last bars flash. At least thats how I understand it. Looks cool anyway. Lol.

On the 4.0t you can see boost level as a curved bar on the top left of the cluster. Doesnt work on the 3.0t as boost is tracked as a different parameter than what is represented on the cluster with boost gauge enabled.

I think you described shift light. Boost is displayed without entering manual mode on the turbo engines but on the 3.0TFSI it doesnt do anything.
Edit: too slow. Was answering to esimp2k.

Lap Timer Boost indicator 3.0 Supercharged
After further review its only shift light for the 3.0t from a previous thread. Thanks for the education!

This make more sense; I see it flash right before/through shifts, but my car is boosting well before that.

It goes with the redline on the tach. Those that don’t have re-indexed redline LEDs and a trans tune have it flashing way before they shift. Someone like me with a 7400RPM redline and no trans tune sees the first 2 segments light and then the trans upshifts at 6250.
Lap timer and boost show in display
I have a 2013 S6 I have seen others that had a feature that shows lap time and boost in the display between gauges. Can I turn that feature on in my S6. if so,how do I do it?

VCDS. There is a huge list floating around on the forum that outlines all steps required to enable these features.

VCDS is one of the definitive diagnostic programs for VW/Audi Group cars. It’s a Windows app.
The software is a free download, but requires a proprietary cable to interface to your S6 (that also serves as the software license dongle for the app).
It’s pricy, but worth it if you intend to highly tweak and/or benchmark your car.
Alternatively, if all you really want is to enable the lap timer and a few of the other common «secret» features, and read trouble codes, the Carista mobile app + Bluetooth connector can do this for a lower price than VCDS.
I have both. They are good products.
Audi laptimer, oil temp,. boost gauge activation
I found this today. Looks like its from the previous MY. Will this work for us with or without VC?
- Connect with module 17 Instrument Cluster.
- Choose procedure 07 Coding.
- Read stored value and back it up.
- Choose Long Coding Helper
- Select byte 01.
- Enable box next to bit 03.
- Save new coding.
- Exit.

I did this using the app on OBDELEVEN. It didn’t enable anything with oil temp, only the lap timer

I have the SQ5 with VC, and that comes standard. You might need VC for it to display.
Oil temp ends up on the bottom left, boost gauge top right. Oil temp is useful (its an actual number). The boost gauge is a little fluff bar graph with no scale or numbers (so pointless).

I don’t think there is a provision to have a boost gauge with the sc engines, just turbo engines. I’ve enabled the lap timer on my A6 which shows oil temp and boost. The VC on my Q7 already shows oil temp on the bar graph of one of the views.

The bar graph on the A6 is the shift point indicator. The boost is not shown with the sc engine. Are you sure that the Q7 shows a boost gauge?
