Microsoft has ended support for Windows 7 on the 14th of January 2020
Microsoft has ended support for Windows 7 on the 14th of January 2020. GRAPHISOFT recommends to update all Windows 7 systems running GRAPHISOFT products to Windows 10.
Compatibility notes to ARCHICAD on Windows 7
Please note that ARCHICAD 16 is the last release of ARCHICAD to support Windows XP and any 32-bit operating system. Newer releases of ARCHICAD will be 64-bit only, and will support only 64-bit Operating Systems, including Windows 7 and Windows 8 and Windows 10.
ARCHICAD 23 is the last released version to be compatible with the Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 operating systems.
Installation of ARCHICAD 24 or newer is not possible.
Compatible ARCHICAD versions
GRAPHISOFT products are supported on Pro and Enterprise editions and are compatible with Home and Educational editions.
Compatible but not supported version
- Versions from ARCHICAD 20 to ARCHICAD 23 may be run on Windows 7, though they were designed to work with newer versions of Windows. As a result of this there is no official support for operating system specific problems
ARCHICAD 20-23 versions are compatible but not tested by GRAPHISOFT on Windows 7 (64-bit system).
Compatible versions
ARCHICAD 17-19 versions are fully compatible with Windows 7 on 64-bit systems. ARCHICAD 13-16 versions are fully compatible with Windows 7 on both 32 and 64-bit systems. ARCHICAD 13 acquired the official «Compatible with Windows 7» logo from Microsoft.

ARCHICAD 11 is Windows Vista compatible. It can be installed and work on Windows 7 in many cases. In some cases it may not install or run due to some unique configurations on the operating system set by the user or the computer manufacturer or system updates that arrived after our testing. Try At Your Own Risk. GRAPHISOFT does not provide technical support for these releases.
ARCHICAD 10
ARCHICAD 10 is Windows XP compatible. Windows 7 Professional and Ultimate editions (except for starter and Home Premium editions) provide «Windows XP Mode» for legacy software. (It can run fine even without Xp mode.) ARCHICAD 10 can install and run fine on Windows 7 in many cases. In some cases it may not install or run due to some unique configurations on the operating system set by the user or the computer manufacturer or system updates that arrived after our testing. Try At Your Own Risk. GRAPHISOFT does not provide technical support for these releases.
ARCHICAD 9
- Uninstall all installed Java versions from the computer *
- Install the Java version from the ARCHICAD 9 disk
- Run ARCHICAD installer, and select «Custom» install option
- Exclude «GS Shell Extension» component from installation
- Run the installer
- Reboot system
- Re-install the latest Java environemt
- Update WIBU-driver (Download driver from here)
Most of the issues reported on Windows Vista apply to Windows 7 as well. Try At Your Own Risk. GRAPHISOFT does not provide technical support for these releases.
Compatible GRAPHISOFT products

- BIM Server v20 and BIMcloud are compatible but not tested with Windows 7 (64-bit)
- BIM Server v19 and BIMcloud are compatible with Windows 7 (64-bit)
- BIM Server v18 and BIMcloud are compatible with Windows 7 (64-bit)
- BIM Server v17 is compatible with Windows 7 (64-bit)
- BIM Server v16 is compatible with Windows 7 (64-bit is recommended)
- BIM Server v15 is compatible with Windows 7(32-bit and 64-bit)
- BIMx Desktop Viewer 19-22 are compatible but not tested with Windows 7 (64-bit)
- BIMx Desktop Viewer 16-18 are compatible with Windows 7 (32-bit and 64-bit)

- go to Control Panel
- select Indexing Options
- click Modify
- Browse for [System Drive]/users/[your username] and
- Uncheck the Checkbox for the Graphisoft folder

ArchiCAD 18 является старой версией программного продукта для BIM-моделирования от компании–разработчика Graphisoft. Программа ориентирована на создание виртуальной модели здания и других деталей строительных конструкций. В 2014-м году эта САПР была успешным этапом информационно-архитектурного проектирования. В обзоре изложена необходимая техническая информация об установке программного пакета и его системных требованиях.
Как установить ArchiCAD 18
Для того чтобы установить программу на ПК, нужно проделать несколько простых операций.
Сначала нужно подтвердить, что у вас есть лицензионный ключ для программного пакета.
Следом, согласиться с наличием «CodeMeter».
Снять галочку при запросе программы для автоматической проверки обновлений.
Возможно, потребуется перезагрузить ПК.
Случается, когда с программой возникают сложности на локальной машине. Чтобы программное обеспечение адекватно функционировало на компьютере, следует соблюдать определенное соответствие системных требований для данного ПО на конкретной ОС.
Системные требования ArchiCAD 18
Для установки программы на Windows нужны соответствующие версии этой ОС: 7,8 и 8,1. Разрядность процессора должна составлять 64 бита. Необходимо наличие платформы Java версии 1.7.0 (если ее нет – автоматически устанавливается).
Для установки программы на Mac OS X нужна соответствующая версия 10.8 и 10.9. Соответственно: Mountain Lion, Mavericks.
Необходим 2-х ядерный процессор с битностью 24 (если проект небольшой). В остальных случаях, нужен процессор с 4-8 ядрами и более.
Объём оперативной памяти необходим в размере 4 ГБ, 8 ГБ или 16 ГБ. В зависимости от масштаба проекта.
Объём памяти жесткого диска нужен минимум 5 ГБ — для установки ArchiCAD 18. Остальные гигабайты понадобятся для работы в программе.
Чтобы качество изображения не падало и работать с программой было комфортно – разрешение монитора должно составлять 1440×900.
Это выше чем минимальное: 1024 x 768, но тем больше гарантий качества картинки для пользователя. Оптимальная видеокарта должна поддерживать режим Open GL, объём видеопамяти – 512 МБ, но для работы со сложными моделями лучше больше.
Тем не менее, программная версия ArchiCAD 18 2014 года, при всех своих преимуществах, уже давно «уступила дорогу» новым возможностям и перспективам. На текущий момент, актуальная версия САПР – ArchiCAD 21. Версия ПО «увидела мир» в мае 2017-го года и в тот момент она многое пообещала своим пользователям. Installed ArchiCAD 18. Computer then rebooted without warning after what seems to be after installation (happened on every installation of ArchiCAD 18 ). After reboot ArchiCAD had been installed.
However it is only allowing me to use demo mode. Codemeter error: 501 (see screenshot attached)
Downloaded file from Chrome browser, no issue.
Checked .exe extension.
Re-installed with windows firewall and windows defender turned off.
Tried inputting my serial number as activation code.Any ideas whats going wrong?

Have you upgraded you Archicad key to version 18?

Barry.I have always used the educational license. During installation it didn’t ask me for upgrading keys or enter new serial which I have done in previous installations of ArchiCAD versions. I feel I have missed a step somewhere.
Ive also noticed there is a Codemeter Control Centre in my notification area. Anything to do with the ‘Codemeter error 501’?

I didn’t realise you were trying to use the educational version.
That shouldn’t be using any Codemeter or Wibukey drivers at all.
You could try removing (uninstalling) those.I don’t know a lot about the EDU version as I don’t use it.
But when you install one of the first dialogues should be asking if you have a serial number or hardware key.
Obviously you want the serial number which sounds like what you have already done.I sure I read in another post somewhere that someone was using the same EDU serial number they got for 17 and it was working in 18.
So it should be working.If you have a file you have already saved in 17 try just double clicking it to open it.
This should open in 18 as it was the last version installed and should trigger the EDU licence as all EDU files will make even the professional license and EDU one when opened.Otherwise someone else that uses the EDU version may have some ideas.
