Publishing requirements
Before starting the app submission workflow, review these requirements.
- Android APK, App Bundle, or an HTML5 web app. For details on Android development, see Android developer documentation.
- Amazon developer account.
- Image assets and descriptions for your app.
Publishing overview
The Developer Console provides screens that you proceed through to enter information about your app. The following workflow map guides you through this process:
STEP 1:
Upload Your App File
STEP 2:
Target Your App
STEP 3:
Add Appstore Details
STEP 4:
Review and Submit

After you complete all the required information on a screen, the Developer Console displays a green check mark for that screen in the sidebar. You will not be able to submit your app until the Upload Your App File, Target Your App, and Appstore Details screens show green check marks.
Note: As you make changes, the information on each screen is automatically saved.
For a broader overview of the app submission process, see Understanding Amazon Appstore Submission.
Additional configurations
Depending on your app’s functionality, you may need to do some additional steps not listed in the above workflow:
- In-app purchasing: If your app contains items available for in-app purchases (IAP), you must enter those on the In-App Items tab before submitting your app. See Create and Submit Single IAP items for instructions.
- Security Profile: If your app uses Login with Amazon, or Amazon Device Messaging APIs, be prepared to associate your app with a security profile as part of the submission process. See Security Profile for more details.
Get started
Before you can submit an app, you must register for a developer account (it’s free) and add an app within the Developer Console. To sign in and add an app, use these steps.

- Go to Developer Console and click Sign In in the upper-right corner. If you already have an Amazon.com account but not an Amazon developer account, sign in with your Amazon.com account. The Developer Console creates the developer account using your Amazon.com email address, and then the two accounts are tied together and synced. You will be prompted to complete the registration profile pages in the Developer Console. After you sign in, the Developer Console shows the Dashboard page for your account.
- From the Dashboard, in the Amazon Appstore widget, click the Add a New App drop-down menu and select one of the following:
- Android (refers to Java-based Android apps, usually created with Android Studio)
- Mobile Web (refers to HTML5 web apps, created with HTML, JavaScript, and CSS)
The New App Submission page appears for you to enter basic information about your app. This information will be accessible on the Upload Your App File screen. You won’t see the submission workflow screens until you save your app.
Tip: If you have an organization account, you can add multiple users to the same account.
Next steps
Go to the first step in the app submission workflow: Step 1: Upload Your App File.

Unlisting an App Version from the Amazon Appstore
If you have a live app already published on the Amazon Appstore, you have the option to self-suppress the current version of that app. For example, consider a situation where you have an app and you discovered a major bug after the app was published. You can submit an updated version with the bug fix and submit a suppression request at the same time. This helps ensure that users only get the version of the app that has the bug fix.
The app self-suppression feature is available to Android app submissions only. This feature doesn’t support web app submissions.

Requirements for app self-suppression
The app self-suppression feature has the following requirements:
- The app cannot be any of the following app types:
- HTML5/Web app
- PC/Mac app
- Alexa skill
Suppressing an app version
To suppress a version of an app that is available in the Amazon Appstore, follow these steps.
- Using an account with administrator privileges, go to the app’s listing in the Developer Console and open the App status screen for the current version of your app.
- On the top right, click Remove from Appstore. A pop-up window opens asking the reason for suppression.
- On the Reason for Suppression window, select one of the options for why you want to suppress your app. If you choose «Other», you are also required to provide additional comments in the Comments box.
- Click Submit to submit the request for submission.
- Follow the prompts and click through to confirm that you want to suppress the app. Amazon sends an email to all email addresses associated with the app, notifying them that a suppression request was submitted for the app. Additionally, Amazon will contact you within two business days to discuss your suppression request.
Note: To prevent multiple suppression requests for the same app version, if you cancel an app suppression request, the Remove from Appstore option remains disabled until you submit a new version of your app.
If a user installed the app before you suppressed it, the app will remain on their device after you suppress it because the app has already been stored locally on their device.
